Lightning Review: Kahli Abdu & Kid Konnect – The Lust

Music maker Kahli Abdu’s sonic connection with producer Kid Konnect is as powerful as ever on The Lust, a mid-tempo confessional hip hop track with the admittance of a weakness for (beautiful) women as its lyrical theme.

Music maker Kahli Abdu’s sonic connection with producer Kid Konnect is as powerful as ever on The Lust, a mid-tempo confessional hip hop track with the admittance of a weakness for (beautiful) women as its lyrical theme. The collaborators first met in the mid-2000s and have since forged a musical partnership that has spawned several acclaimed releases including last year’s The Bandits EP and Fame, an excellent R&B song from February.

The Lust thrives on Kahli’s relatable, everyday lyrics — She sent me some pics, men, you know chicks/My weakness, a woman in a low dress — delivered in his signature laidback style, and Konnect’s lush instrumental arrangement, two inseparable elements that make for a great track.
