Snaps: Samuel Eto’o Joins Everton On Free Transfer

From one shade of blue to another.

Arguably Africa’s greatest striker of the 2000s, Samuel Eto clearly isn’t done with football. The 33-year old Cameroonian, whose year-long spell at Chelsea saw him score 12 goals in 35 appearances last season, yesterday signed a two-year deal with Premier League aspirants Everton FC. Snapped up on a free transfer, Eto’o joins former Chelsea teammate Romelu Lukaku at Goodison Park and will wear the club’s No. 5 jersey.

Why Everton? In the player’s own words:

“I have been very impressed by the style of play Everton adopt. I could see straight away that at this club I will have the opportunity to play football.”
